2012 Round Up

Hey All,

Well we're in the final throws of 2012 and we thought we'd have a short recap of our year here at Collision. Having ended 2011 with the release of the This Fiery Road album by Jack Cade and the Everyday Sinners we entered this year with a desire to release more material by more artists. Our intention was to record and release 3 artists through the year which we haven't quite managed, but we've got close. Running a small label, with everyone throwing in there spare time to make it work, is a labour of love and often bloody mindedness, so unlike our larger full time compatriots out there we have to adjust as we go along.

That being said we've spent the year recording Steve Morano's first album for Collision 'Jacksons Corner' which will come out in the new year. Two singles have been released from the recordings so far. the first was Donna for which we shot a video around Reading featuring lots of people and businesses from the local area. The song and video drew a lot of interest in the states and was picked up by an LA based music magazine 'Indie Artist' where it featured on there YouTube channel and picked up 250k views in a month. The second single 'Jacksons Corner' is now out with a video coming out in the next week. Tom Anderson who is the producer behind our recordings is busily putting finishing touches to the final tracks for the album and we hope to announce the release day very soon. As well as the releases Steve has had a very busy year gig wise, playing all over the South of the UK and has already got a lot of show lined up for the new year.

After a 17 year wait, the labels first signings back at the beginning of the 90's, The Love Family finally finished off there debut album and got it released in July. The album 'Out of Reach' has been well worth the wait receiving some great reviews along the way, one ponders what might have been had the album come out 17 years ago and how many more great albums the band could have released. Thankfully main songwriter and lead singer Gary Robertson has been on a bit of a songwriting frenzy over the last year and the band are back in the studio in January to record a whole batch of new material which all at Collision are very excited about.

The end of the year has seen Jack Cade and his Everyday Sinner enter the studio again too. Having built up a solid live set of new material with new drummer Adam Perry and bass player Mike Muggeridge the band have recently been joined by the awesome singing talent that is Helen Togher. The new line up has tightened the focus of the band and given it a rawer Americana Roots sound with Helen adding a touch of sweetness to the raw edge of Jack's vocal style. First tracks recorded have been Dead Weight Walkin, Blood Red Lips, The River and Glowball. Production on this has been handled by Bobby Bloomfied from Does it Offend You, Yeah! Who has given the band a slightly harder rough and ready sound. Look out for he new songs they're sounding great... but more about that in our looking forward to 2013 blog post tomorrow...

Let me just finish by handing out a big thank you to all those who have helped us through the year, there have been many who ave helped by playing on recordings, helping out with videos and if course all hose who have bought our releases, spread the word and been to gigs... Long may it continue and here's to an awesome 2013.

Big Thanks
Mark and Tom
