2012 Round Up

Hey All,

Well we're in the final throws of 2012 and we thought we'd have a short recap of our year here at Collision. Having ended 2011 with the release of the This Fiery Road album by Jack Cade and the Everyday Sinners we entered this year with a desire to release more material by more artists. Our intention was to record and release 3 artists through the year which we haven't quite managed, but we've got close. Running a small label, with everyone throwing in there spare time to make it work, is a labour of love and often bloody mindedness, so unlike our larger full time compatriots out there we have to adjust as we go along.

That being said we've spent the year recording Steve Morano's first album for Collision 'Jacksons Corner' which will come out in the new year. Two singles have been released from the recordings so far. the first was Donna for which we shot a video around Reading featuring lots of people and businesses from the local area. The song and video drew a lot of interest in the states and was picked up by an LA based music magazine 'Indie Artist' where it featured on there YouTube channel and picked up 250k views in a month. The second single 'Jacksons Corner' is now out with a video coming out in the next week. Tom Anderson who is the producer behind our recordings is busily putting finishing touches to the final tracks for the album and we hope to announce the release day very soon. As well as the releases Steve has had a very busy year gig wise, playing all over the South of the UK and has already got a lot of show lined up for the new year.

After a 17 year wait, the labels first signings back at the beginning of the 90's, The Love Family finally finished off there debut album and got it released in July. The album 'Out of Reach' has been well worth the wait receiving some great reviews along the way, one ponders what might have been had the album come out 17 years ago and how many more great albums the band could have released. Thankfully main songwriter and lead singer Gary Robertson has been on a bit of a songwriting frenzy over the last year and the band are back in the studio in January to record a whole batch of new material which all at Collision are very excited about.

The end of the year has seen Jack Cade and his Everyday Sinner enter the studio again too. Having built up a solid live set of new material with new drummer Adam Perry and bass player Mike Muggeridge the band have recently been joined by the awesome singing talent that is Helen Togher. The new line up has tightened the focus of the band and given it a rawer Americana Roots sound with Helen adding a touch of sweetness to the raw edge of Jack's vocal style. First tracks recorded have been Dead Weight Walkin, Blood Red Lips, The River and Glowball. Production on this has been handled by Bobby Bloomfied from Does it Offend You, Yeah! Who has given the band a slightly harder rough and ready sound. Look out for he new songs they're sounding great... but more about that in our looking forward to 2013 blog post tomorrow...

Let me just finish by handing out a big thank you to all those who have helped us through the year, there have been many who ave helped by playing on recordings, helping out with videos and if course all hose who have bought our releases, spread the word and been to gigs... Long may it continue and here's to an awesome 2013.

Big Thanks
Mark and Tom

Collision releases the July

Hi to you all,

Things have been busy here at Collision with a number of releases and videos coming out this month. First up we have the release of Steve Morano's debut single on Collision as we head toward the release of his album. The single 'Donna' will be out on 23 July. The video is already up on YouTube if you want a chance to give it a listen.

Steve Morano’s sound falls somewhere in the Folk, Americana and Singer Songwriter bracket. He has really honed his own style and song writing over the last few years both singing in bands and performing as a solo artist in the UK, Europe and the US. A regular at Guilfest over the last 5 years and standout performances around London and the South of England are now being translated into a new as yet to be titled album, featuring a full ensemble of talented Berkshire based musicians.

Also out this month we will finally see The debut Love Family album Out Of Reach. 17 years in the recording (they make My Bloody Valentine look hasty) the albu sees the light of day on 30 July. It's already picking up great reviews and you can check out the video for one of the tracks 'Stay Connected' below or on You Tube.

"...a slice of pop perfection" - Steve Lamacq

"... melodic noise" - aaamusic.co.uk

"Out of Reach has short sharp songs and is one of those albums that you’ll play, then flip straight back to the start, over and over - surroundedby.co.uk

The Love Family are a four piece Indie/Rock band who hailed from Kent’s Medway Towns. They blazed a trail around the venues of the UK and Europe for the first five years of the 1990’s bringing their brand of melodic noise to the people. Championed by the NME’s Mark Sutherland for their four track E.P Burnt and awarded single of the week for Body Soul Heart Mind by Radio 1’s Steve Lamacq. A man who recognised “a slice of pop perfection” when he heard it.

Finally, we have just released a new video for Jack Cade and the Everyday Sinners. The video is for 'The Fiery Road' the title track from the Collision Music released album of last year.

That's all for now....more soon

Thanks for supporting Collision Music.

The Love Family no longer out of reach - Album out 11 June 2012

Well, they say some things take time to mature, and so it has been with The Love Family. Having entered the studio in 1995 to record their debut album they came to the conclusion that they needed to take some time out to reflect on the recordings at that point... fast forward to 2011 and they finally came to the conclusion that they were pretty happy with the songs on the album bar a couple which they wanted to replace. Unfortunately the studio they had been using had closed down during this 16 year reflection, and so it was in May 2011 they entered the Ten21 studio in Maidstone in Kent to finally finish that debut album.

Collision Music, there label since 1990, who had been patiently awaiting the arrival of the album are now pleased, and relieved, to announce that 'Out of Reach', an album featuring 11 shimmering, noisy pop songs, will be hitting the stores and internet (which wasn't originally in our thoughts back in '95) on 11 June 2012.

To celebrate the launch there is a new video for 'Stay Connected' up on You Tube (see below). to find out more info and read reviews as they come in simply follow the band via their website thelovefamilyband.com or on any of the many social networking sites or alternatively you can keep up on the Collision Music site as well.

As the release date approaches we'll be posting more info and letting you know about live appearances.

The Love Family album Out of Reach coming soon

We'll most of the crossing and dotting of T's and I's has been done, so the release date for The Love Family album 'Out of Reach' will be announced soon. In the meantime the boys have spent a day in London to have a set of new pics taken. Not something they overly enjoy, but the end result looks fantastic. Some great locations around the Thames near Tower Bridge were used, all photos were directed and taken by a young and gifted photographer Magdalena Golembiewska. Keep checking out the Love Family site to see the results in the coming weeks.

At Collision Music we're busy compiling all the info and gear we need to start promoting the forthcoming release as well as organising some dates to promote the album. Join up to the mailing list and we'll let you know as soon as we have some info to send out.

That's all for now

2012 - Collision time is here again

Hi to you all and welcome to Collision Music, the home to new and inspiring artists from the Berkshire area of the UK.

Collision was originally set up in 1990 in the Medway Towns in Kent, and over a period of 7 years released two 12 inch EPs and a 7inch single by the Love Family, as well as recording an unreleased album. There as a 7 inch single from Somersault, as well as Fortune West and finally a 12 inch EP from Spawn. All these original releases are still available in very small quantities and will soon be up on our new site to order.

Having spent quite a few years dormant the label was awoken from it's slumber and released a geat album by Jack Cade and the Everyday Sinners. Bouyed by the reviews and feedback garnered by the album Collision Music run by Mark Wrangham and Tom Anderson has undertaken to record and release a number of new artists in 2012 as well as release the shelved Love Family album.

'Out of Reach' by the Love Family is due out in early March. the tracks were re-recorded at Ten21 studios in Kent in July 2011 and I have to say sounds bloody awesome. It's been passed in front of a few reviewers and industry peeps and has had some great feedback too.

In the studio in early 2012 will be Steve Morano recording an album of his soulful folk tunes which should be out in April/May time.

More artists and recordings will follow so why not join the mailing list to keep up to date.
